Meet Christine

Project: General Management Role: Projects Coordinator About: Christine has worked closely with us since 2005. She plays a vital role in overseeing and supporting our community initiatives. With years of experience as a headteacher of a successful local school, she brings leadership, wisdom, and a deep understanding of community needs. Known for her energy, kindness, and sense of humour, she is dedicated to supporting our projects in every way possible. Goals: To help within her community wherever she can, ensuring that our projects continue to make a meaningful impact.

Meet George

Project: Upper Planet Training Centre Role: Chairman of Kenyan team & founder of Upper Planet Training Centre About: George has worked with Education Exchange since 2008 and is the highly respected chair of our joint UK/Kenya group, organising the meetings and providing us with updates. With deep roots in the local community and a recent ordination as a church pastor, his dedication to community wellbeing drives him to make a lasting impact through education and training. Goals: He is totally committed to the wellbeing of the local community and wants to provide Kenyans with opportunities and skills they need to broaden their job prospects.

Meet Selina

Project: Mvono medical clinic Role: Medical practitioner About: For over 36 years, Selina has dedicated her life to providing quality healthcare to her community. As a registered clinical officer, she founded Mvono Clinic in 2003, determined to treat every patient with care and dignity, despite limited resources. In 2014, she partnered with Education Exchange, allowing her to expand the clinic’s services, offer a wider range of medications, and treatments. Today, Selina remains a pillar of the community, who the local people turn to in their times of need. Goals: To care for those in the local community and provide effective treatments to all who are in need

Meet Scaver

Project: Tiata Environmental Initiative Role: Founder and Chairman About: Scaver has been an invaluable leader since he began working with Education Exchange in 2003. His vision and dedication have played a key role in expanding the organization's reach and impact within the local community. In 2010, he founded TEI to provide financial and practical support to local people, especially those growing their own crops and running their own businesses. Under his leadership, TEI has been instrumental in helping community members build sustainable livelihoods, improving both their economic stability and the environment. Goals: To create a stronger, more resilient community by providing people with the resources and knowledge they need to become more self-sufficient.

Meet Habel

Project: Grace Mwatate Children’s home Role: Home manager About: Habel plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the home and the well-being of every child. He works closely with local authorities, including the police and social services, to rescue and admit vulnerable children, handling all the necessary paperwork and legal documentation Goals: To ensure that the home is a safe, organised, and nurturing environment and help new children transition into life there

Meet Edith

Project: Grace Mwatate Childrens Home Role: Caregiver and guardian of children About: Edith has been a dedicated caregiver and guardian at Grace Mwatate Children's Home for over 10 years, and has been an integral part of Education Exchange since 2018. As the pillar of the children's home, she ensures that the day-to-day operations run smoothly and that the children receive the care, love, and attention they need. Her dedication and passion make the home a place of comfort and security for all the children in her care. Goals: She is deeply committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can grow, thrive, and feel truly at home.

Meet Simon

Project: Grace Mwatate Children’s Home Role: Founder of the home About: Simon is a local pastor with deep roots in the community. His strong connections allow him to identify children in need and work closely with local authorities to ensure they receive care and protection. He also plays a big role in securing donors and funding, actively reaching out to supporters who share the vision of providing a safe, loving home for vulnerable children. Goals: To help shape the home’s future, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive.

Meet Irene

Project: Tiata environmental initiative Role: Coordinator and Treasurer About: Irene started working with us in 2012 and since then she has become a central member of the TEI team. She plays a crucial role in coordinating meetings and overseeing the loan distribution process, ensuring that those in need receive the support they deserve. Irene also plays a large role in the TEI briquette project, managing the production, sales and scale up. She is dedicated to helping her community any way she can while prioritising environmental impact. Goals: To provide income opportunities for local people and TEI members.
