Upper Planet IT Training Centre

What we offer

Since 2012, Education Exchange has been equipping young people in rural Kenya with essential digital skills through the Upper Planet Training Centres. Located in Kitukunyi and Mwatate, these centres provide affordable IT training, offering nine Microsoft-based courses, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Over 100 students have graduated with IT qualifications, enhancing their job prospects and opening doors to better employment opportunities and brighter futures.

Our Centres

  • Kitukunyi Centre

Our first IT training centre, located in a very small village just outside Wundanyi.

  • Mwatate Centre

After the success of the first centre a new centre was opened in the larger town of Mwatate.

What we do

Take a closer look at what goes on in our two Upper Planet training centres.

Meet George.

Meet our project leader, George, whose dedication and leadership are the driving force behind both centres, ensuring their success and impact in the community.

Cyber Cafe

Beyond education, the centres serve as valuable community hubs, doubling as cybercafés, photocopying and printing services. These are all critical resources in areas where internet access is scarce.

The Kitukunyi Centre also hosts a small grocery shop which helps to support its sustainability.

Upper Planet Shop

The shop is situated next to the Kitukunyi Centre, it sells basic goods saving people having to walk 20 minutes down into Wundanyi town for their groceries in the heat.

The shop helps to supplement the income generated by the Upper Planet project, meaning that we can keep down the costs for local people wishing to develop their IT skills.
